What is Jesus teaching in this portion of the sermon?

1. Sin is a heart condition! Someone has said, “God is the Surgeon, and the Bible is the scalpel.” (Hebrews 4:11-13)
2. Hatred-selfish anger is a sin! Confess and forsake it! (1 John 1:9)
3. We are to be reconciled with God and one another! (Romans 12:18)
4. There are real consequences for a hardened, unforgiving heart! (Matthew 5:21-22, 6:15)

• He is the fulfillment of God’s Word.
• He is the Savior, and besides Him there is no other Savior.
• God’s Word is completely trustworthy, divine, authoritative, and perfect.

• “You are the salt of the earth…” Matthew 5:13.

• “You are the light of the world…” Matthew 5:14

• The Christian as salt and light.  Matthew 5:15-16

How do these descriptors apply to us today?

• The Church as “salt” is to preserve and proclaim God’s truth and influence the world for good! (We are to be difference makers!)
• The Church as “light” is to illuminate the pathway that leads to and acknowledges Jesus Christ as the only Lord and Savior.  (Light-bearers!)
• The Church is to glorify God: (Give honor, worship, praise, focus attention on God, and acknowledge His Sovereignty)

• The enemy seeks to destroy to you. 1 Peter 5:8

• You will be attacked for your faith in Jesus Christ and when you are, Rejoice-jump for joy!    

• We are no different than the prophets of old-we will all be rewarded by God one day!

2. We are to go forth in the power of God’s Holy Spirit.  Acts 1:8.
3. We are to proclaim the gospel. (forgiveness/Judgment) Romans 1:16.
4. We are to proclaim the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Revelation 22:20,21.

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”

Give your heart, life, past, present, and future to the Lord Jesus Christ today and be forgiven, restored, and saved. God promises His Paradise for those who love Him.
